SHAD
Spring is here and the month of April is almost
over. It is time to get your Shad gear out of the closet because the
Sacramento River is full of Shad. The Shad run will last for at
least a month as they make their way to their spawning grounds. The
first group of Shad will usually head up the Sacramento and Feather
River first. Then the American River Shad will follow after. I have
caught Shad in the American River all the way into the month of
June.
One of the HOT SPOTS now is below the Freeport
Bridge and at the Mouth of the Feather River. Shad Darts and
one-inch pink or chartreuse grubs work the best.
