Crowley Lake:
Good-excellent

The algae bloom has subsided greatly this week and it has helped out fly fishers greatly.  We are bringing up to 65 fish per day to the net and are very happy with the size, 16" and over 1 lb.  Chironomids are still doing the trick for us.  On the down side here have been the crowds of bait fishers.  This will change for the better after August 1st as the bait and kill season comes to a close.  You may only use artificial lures or flies, and you can only keep 2 fish over 18" in length.  The lake level is low for this time of year considering that we had a normal snow pack.  This has killed off the weed beds and made fishing damsel flies in the grass a distant memory.  This is the still the surest bet in this area for a
successful outing with a fly rod. 

Tom Beard, of Escondido, Ca. booked  two days with us on Crowley and represented the San Diego Fly Fishers honorably by bringing to net 111 fish.  His best was a 21", 4 lb.  Rainbow.  You a "rucky guy" Tom!  No misspelling here, inside joke.

Paul Diaz of Chino Hills, Ca. fished with us two days recently on Crowley and bested this 21" brown. Paul and his buddy Jesus Lizarraga of Pico Rivera, Ca. netted 89 fish during this trip.  High fives to you guys!
