Get real time information on Water Level and Dam Release

Hogan Lake located above Lake Comanche is one of the reservoirs we have with land locked Stripers in it. This time of the year during the fall, the Stripers will chase the shad to the surface or into a cove and feed on them.  Look for birds milling around and diving on the water's surface. A lot of times you will see water boiling on a calm day when the Stripers have the shad on the surface. Top water lures like the Zarra Spook, Woodchopper or Pop-R are good surface lures. Any kind of plastic minnow imitation like the flukes or slug-o's work real well. Do not use any weights when using the plastics flukes. Duh and Horizon spoons also work very well at times when the Stripers are not on the surface. Look on your graph for baitfish balls and vertical jig just under the bait. 

The Black Bass fishing also starts to get good this time of year. They're a lot of small mouth and large mouth bass in Hogan. This lake does not get a lot of pressure by tournament fisherman. Fish top water Rico's or Zara spooks in the morning, then go to grubs on a 1/8 oz dart head. Split-shot or Carolina rig a four in PRO worm in color #64spf. This is a deadly combo at this lake at this time of year.
